PREPARATION
WORK
The first step in a painting project is preparation. This will consist of scraping, sanding, caulking, minor repairs and priming as per the detailed project description. Preparation work can include:
Cleaning of surfaces with soap and water and high pressure cleaning.
Loose paint removed by scraping and sanding.
Rotten or loose fascia boards and barge boards replaced where necessary.
Failed caulking removed and re-applied.
Broken window panes replaced with new as needed.
Nails countersunk and filled with putty.
All dust from sanding/scraping removed.
Various cracks caused by gradual shifting of the building and seasonal weather changes, will be identified, and repaired where necessary.
Water damaged areas are assessed and quoted for where necessary.
PAINTING
PROCESS
In general, once all the preparation is completed, the painting process begins. In some cases, specific sections may be prepared and painted, with the crew moving from section to section.
Areas not being painted are covered.
Areas are spot-primed where needed with appropriate primer for substrate.
Premium quality paints are applied.
CLEAN UP
PROCESS
Debris is cleaned up and tools are packed away daily. Ladders are stored horizontally for safety. On completion of the project, a final general inspection of all the areas painted will take place. Drop sheets, painting equipment and ladders will be removed from the site. Where required, areas will be swept, and debris is bagged for your weekly rubbish pickup.
PAINT FOR TOUCH-UPS
We will leave excess paint behind for any future touch-ups that you may need to do. It is important to seal paint tins well and store in a dry area.
